JaeRa the Visitor, a South Bay L.A. native, explores introspection, identity, and imagination through his production and writing. While primarily evoking hip-hop, his music has traced roots and influences to neo-soul, funk, and jazz. Listening to JaeRa, one can expect witty wordplay, multi-layered rhyme schemes, an infectious groove, and references to everything between comic book heroes and obscure animal facts.Â
JaeRa has performed with live bands such as Jonathan Pinson's Boom Clap at LACMA and Emile Martinez's band, The Education. Another notable show that he participated in was a tribute to Guru from Gang Starr that was done in celebration of the inauguration of his brother Pres. Elam at Occidental College. While JaeRa was rapping Guru's lyrics from his Jazzmatazz series, he was being supported by the students of Occidental's jazz ensemble program. In times when JaeRa is taking on the stage solo, he comes equipped with his humble SP-404 and microphone representing both the DJ and the MC in one.
